Majorana Fermions have not conclusively been observed yet. To add to the irony, Microsoft got a paper claiming they did observe them retracted. Leo P. Kouwenhoven works at a Microsoft lab in the Netherlands.
The irony will be complete if their claims of achieving such quantum computing breakthrough within years turn out to be similarly inconclusive~~
