Expanding the benefits of Apple silicon, C1 is the first modem designed by Apple and the most power-efficient modem ever on an iPhone, delivering fast and reliable 5G cellular connectivity. Apple silicon — including C1 — the all-new internal design, and the advanced power management of iOS 18 all contribute to extraordinary battery life.
Apple focusing on chip design was one of Tim Cooks greatest decisions. But this decision peaked with the M1 chips. Now they're over investing into marginal stuff. They need to refocus on stuff that's actually innovative.

I think Cook has realized that they hit a wall with iPhone features and needed to focus on lower level for innovation to continue. They now own more of the pieces that make up their products.
Imagine a world where Apple adopts bitcoin. Kinda wild to think about it. By that I mean the percentage of engineering and design resources being devoted to bitcoin today is tiny. When the tide shifts you will have incredible amounts of skilled and gifted people improving the tools we use. Gonna be wild to watch. Hope I live long enough to see it.
You can swap out Apple with any other tech company btw. Every company in tech is an "AI company" now and while this can be marketing in many cases I think its a real shift in focus. That will happen with bitcoin and it will be crazy.

The iphones general problem is that "its now a solved problem", which I mean that phones more or less do everything (and more) than anyone wants.
Having said that, figuring a way to get 2 or 3 day battery life would probably be worthwhile
apple integrates bitcoin
Thats a great point and something I've thought about as well. Specifically if Apple released a "wallet" (or more likely integrates bitcoin into their existing wallet). We know Tim Cook owns bitcoin, so its not crazily far-fetched. I think the hurdle for them has always been regulatory. It doesn't make sense for them to enter into it until the regulatory questions are all settled.
I also recently saw this, which is interesting
Its only a matter of time before the dam breaks....

Battery tech is the barrier for so much. Batteries suck right now. If we see a drastic change in batteries it will be transformational.

I’m interested to see what unique capabilities Apple thinks they can bring to the table with this new C1 chip and also their upcoming WiFi/Bluetooth chip. I hope it is more than them just wanting to reduce licensing fees.
Honestly I’m surprised they were able to complete their modem. I thought for sure it was DOA. I will be very interested to see what the reviews say about the performance.

I suspect the main point is just not paying money to Qualcom anymore. Maybe they improved somewhat in communication of bad signals

Indeed.
