I like podcasts like this, because with podcasts there are debates that have direction and purpose

Enjoyed the one with Lisa thanks

Could we start using something besides youtube? I really hate that they demand I dox myself in order to view the video. I either have to sign in, or turn off my VPN. Not cool.
reply
Lightning.video would be cool but i could never get a video to play
reply
In favour of YT alternatives but what you describe is not my experience. Try NewPipe on a VPN and you can watch it just fine. Plays for me at least.

It's just for phones, though? Not the way I watch video. My eyes aren't that good. Still might install it on my Android, though, just to check it out. Looks cool.
reply
Pretty sure there are alternatives you can run on desktop or a server.

What's your suggestion?

In the future, when this is ready, this will be the way to go (probably) https://github.com/PR0M3TH3AN/bitvid?tab=readme-ov-file
That is, so long as it does actually use webtorrent and not that shitty IPFS. Its a project I have my eyes on anyway.

It's decentralized? I'm so confused about how that works for something like video hosting. I'll have to read about this.
reply
Have you ever torrented before? On a technical level torrenting is the most efficient way to share any file p2p, but it was especially popular before netflix for movie pirating. So yes this project uses torrenting.
Oh so the point of centralization with torrenting is the initial peer finding stage (if memory serves). I forget what the host that tells you who all the peers are is called.

I see a lot of people posting rumble videos, but I really don't know. Most people here seem more plugged in to the tech world than me. If I understood how Nostr worked I might suggest something on that protocol, but again, I'm not the guy to ask. I don't fully understand the problem.

Super Testnet gave by far the best answer

Ill give it a watch tomorrow

Will this be a podcast as well?
reply
A series, not quite a podcast. So I'll do these rapid fire interviews alongside long-form podcast interviews
reply
Nice show style
reply
There is already a podcast with this name and format

Had no idea. I do know the 50 Cent song, though.

Can someone ELI5 why this is a political/controversial question? As supertestnet said, can't miners already impose extra rules about what goes into their blocks?
reply
The question is probably not meant to be answered (only) on the technical level ("does such a thing as miner-activated softfork (MASF) exist?").
But (additionally), what effects a controversial MASF by a majority of miners would have on the various economic players. How the economic majority would react.
See Bitcoin, A Game-Theoretic Analysis for the kinds of politics involved.

stackers have outlawed this. turn on wild west mode in your /settings to see outlawed content.
