YES!
I wrote a piece on that (but about tractors) for HumanProgress last year. Was lovely researching and writing that!! https://humanprogress.org/ai-tractors-and-the-slow-diffusion-of-labor-saving-devices/
(guess I should spin it up for ~BooksAndArticles so @siggy47 gets happy!)

I'm reading Bitcoin Billionaires. The Winky twin's grandfather wanted to become an auto mechanic. His father didn't want him to get involved since horses were better- more reliable and they could be used for farming too.

Great book!! One of the first bitcoin books I read

I was reluctant to read it, since having read Digital Gold I felt like I read all the Wink/Shrem history before. I'm enjoying it. I wasn't expecting the mostly positive treatment of the twins. It shows a different side of them.

Yeah and the downfall of Charlie

I heard somewhere recently that there are more horses in the world today than there were when we used them for transportation and work. As of 2016 there were 60 million in the world:
More than a sixth of the almost 60 million horses worldwide live in the United States (around 10 million), followed by Mexico, China and Brazil. The highest horse-to-human-ration anywhere in the world is in Iceland, which is home to the Icelandic horse, one of the oldest and purest breeds anywhere in the world, where you have around one horse for four inhabitants.

Nice... I don't have time for long debates, I have to go and "see a man about the horse"...lol But I bet something will happen with agentic ai, how many jobs will go away and how many will be created. People often fear what they do not understand. We didn't have car mechanics before horses or gas stations. The change is constant, you either adapt or "die" (as in fade into oblivion). I personally welcome change; it has a faint mystery flavor attached to it... a challenge, I say. What say You?

Why did mankind do this? Horses are environmentally friendly! Cars are not! Save the planet, bring back the horses!

In 1920 we mandated cars and banned horses
ergo the same strategy should work with electric vehicles
Is my revisionist history fact or fiction?
