Looks like Boras is pushing for a 3 year deal but with an opt out after year 1, which is completely ridiculous, and Cohen is having none of it. I don't see any team accepting this structure. Maybe on a two year deal. I do think it is possible Alonso is back with the Mets but my guess would be only if he doesn't sign elsewhere and comes back on a 1 year deal.

Yeah. Boras really has steered Pete poorly over the last two seasons. I never rule out him nabbing a huge contract -- no one does it more often than him -- but I feel like Pete would have done much better taking an extension last year.

I think he will get a multi year deal but not if they want an opt out after year 1. Why would the team assume all the risk. If he sucks you are stuck with him for 3 years. If he hits 50 homers this year he opts out and becomes a FA again. At least make the opt out after year 2.
