This is a follow up post on my journey to heat my home with mining. I wrote about it before: #685453 #768730 #812733
As we all know, good things take time, so the original plan to install it before christmas was delayed for various reasons... One reason was that i had to install new powerlines (2 times 16 ampère) and find a way to bring the network cable down to the basement...
Long story short, this is the result:
And yes, the ry3t arrived, this is a look inside without the miners:
And a look inside the electronics:
Here in the top part you can see all the electric relais and switches which connect to the pumps and sensors to steer the miners based on that and also steer the different pumps speed etc... In the bottom part you can (kind of) see the tubes for the liquid circuits... So down there, there is the heat exchanger which transfers the heat from the immersion cooling liquid to the water circuit of the house..
So we went on and placed the miners inside (there are two whatsminer M56S+ inside)
And filled it up with the cooling oil (bitcool)
We had to pay attention here to not add too much of the oil, because this liquid expands when it gets hot. I think there are arround 30 liters inside now..
Then we went for a first testrun, with the case still open:
So there is a pump at the bottom of the oil pan (where the miners are in). This pump pushes the oil from below, through the miner to the top. Then the hot oil goes down that hole in the middle into the heat exchanger that transfers it to the water...
This went well, so now everything is connected now:
The power(black), water(metal) and network(yellow) connections..
In the picture above it is ready to mine, but the house doesn't need heat, so it's in stand-by, indicated by the green light..
The rest was basically to figure out all the parameters like the threshold of the cold water to start minig, how fast the pumps run (and transport the heat out) at which power to mine and so on... This process will probably take some more time until we have the perfect params... Here every house is different...
So, by time of writing this, i have completely switched off the oil heater, and the RY3T is active... I did not experience any difference so far from when the oil heater runs, the radiators get hot, we have enough hot water, everything seems to work out...
This is how it looks like when it's mining, of course the color then is orange:
The guys from ry3t are really nice, they take care that you are happy and are willing to explain everything in detail and set it up the way you want it.. That's not easy because as mentioned before every house is different..
Yeah thats it for now! The second RY3T in history just went online 🔥
I love it! This morning i took my first shower with bitcoin heated water😍... Amazing, feels like i am living in the future, haha
I will tell you more on the parameters and software etc. when it ran for a few weeks and i gained some more experience...
