After having threatened China, U.S. neighbors Canada and Mexico as well as the EU with tariffs, U.S. President Donald Trump extended the same to BRICS countries Monday. Reiterating an earlier statement during a post-inauguration press meeting, Trump said that BRICS countries would see "100 percent tariffs" on their imports to the U.S. if the country bloc should take steps towards de-dollarization and diminishing the U.S. dollar in international trade, for example by means of a new unified currency.

Oh, I forgot this was one of Trumps initiatives when he was last in office. Will be interesting to see how this plays out, and how it will make prices rise.

I'm not an economist but I also have the impression that this is what will happen, it just remains to be seen on what scale. I also think that domestic production could increase if prices are profitable. Only time will tell!

Why do people compare the G7 to BRICS? Is it just the largest G-something that has no BRICS members?

I understand your question and it's relevant. There are no trade agreements between the G7 countries.
