Just a light casual topic for the SN community

Now that we are expecting our fourth and final child should I be getting a vasectomy or not?

What have you or your partner done once you were finished repopulating the planet?

Why do you want to castrate yourself? Just make more babies with the hope that next ones are multiple twins.

I have a friend that got one. I wouldn't as you never know what is going to happen in the future.

Did your friend regret it?

No, he doesn't.

I just think that if the worst kind of tragedy were to happen like if all your kids died in a car accident you might want to make another. People think they'll be together forever but in reality divorce is pretty common.

Very true. I wonder how many people do get them . It’s not something you hear much about

reply

Personally, I just stopped firing live rounds into the baby maker.

reply

The only time that was happening was when we were trying for a baby so four times ever

If both of you agree that this is the final kid, the vasectomy is the easiest from all options. You don't want her to use birthcontrol for the rest of her life and fill herself with disrupting hormones.

And it let's you return the favor after your wife wrecked her body with those 4 pregnancies...

Yes valid points

Also it's reversible in most cases, should you get crazy enough again later.

Snip snap!

That’s what I’m worried about . The physical toll

reply

Yeah I guess one reason to not might be if there is anyway it messes with anything else hormones or otherwise in the male

It doesn't. You'll be fine. Few minutes in and out, for the procedure. Recovery is pretty fast too. You'll be humping her raw again in no time.

I heard they can essentially wear off or have some swimmers get through over time

There are a few studies that have shown little (not out of the normal range of variation) or no effect on hormone levels after vasectomy. Also, often they go back to the previous levels after some time. Based on all that, I'd say that, compared to the effect of oral contraceptives, vasectomy seems to have a very much significantly smaller effect.

Here's an example of those articles.
