28 is a significant potential improvement for things like lightning that need flexible ways to pay fees in smart contracts. That won't necessarily help you personally. But it helps those users.
...at least once some miners start running 28. Right now none do. We know this because at the moment there is an unconfirmed transaction that only Bitcoin Core 28 will mine that hasn't been mined: https://mempool.space/address/bc1pfeessrawgf

The reason i haven't updated yet is mostly everytime i realize there is an update i need to use my umbrel node and it'd take hours to use it :D

those other tx confirms to that addr, are they all from accelerators?
and this canary tx should confirm as soon as at least one miner is running 28 with that mempool inclusion policy?

Pretty much the easiest way to run your own node. Plus people still use it for transacting on the block chain. Bitcoincore + Coldcard is a very good solution. Bitcoincore is also very easy to script for your own projects...
