What is Stacker News? Stacker News is a forum (like Reddit or Hacker News) where you can earn sats for creating or curating content. Rather than collecting “upvotes” that are not redeemable or transferable on Reddit or Hacker News, on Stacker News you can earn sats.

To avoid legal risks, SN has to go noncustodial. To avoid UX decline, SN created cowboy credit.
And I don't think there are better solutions than cowboy credit. We just have to accept the reality. When SN goes noncustodial, people would receive nothing if there were no cowboy credit. At least we can spend cowboy credit the same bitcoin. And when we zap people with cowboy credit, we can get bitcoin reward.

Exactly this is the flaw now... SN is converting the CCs from upvotes into rewards in sats for the assmilkers.

You clearly miss a huge pro of CC. You can use them to post, comment, pay for territories and more without affecting your Sats.
Plus as more people actually connect wallets and do p2p then CC will fall by the wayside
