Traditional Nepalese Puppets
As we walk through the bustling street markets of Kathmandu, Nepal, we can find vibrant displays of traditional art and crafts. Among the many crafts, one that always catches my eye is these colorful puppets. In our language, we call them "Kathputli" a term commonly used in South Asia for string puppets. These puppets often depict characters from local folklore or religious stories and are crafted with fine craftsmanship and dressed in traditional attire. These Kathputlis, controlled by strings, play a vital role in traditional storytelling and performances, such as dancing. I saw many tourists buying them as souvenirs.
