Mutiny Wallet is a self-custodial Bitcoin Lightning wallet designed to work across various web browsers and mobile devices with particular regard to the user privacy and security. The application ensures seamless sending and receiving of Bitcoin instantly with minimal channel-management hassle. More importantly, it was open-source, enabling users to host their instance for increased self-sovereignty. However, the team announced in August 2024 that it would be closing its doors by the end of the year due to technical issues and changed priorities. Users were called to move their funds and investigate self-hosting options before December 31st, 2024, when the proceedings completely shut down.
Since then, Coinos Wallet has been a great leap forward for the Bitcoin maximalists. Coinos provides a vast set of functionalities: it incorporates the Lightning Network, works for on-chain transactions, follows BOLT12, allows for eCash, has a Nostr connector, and even supports LNURLw; thanks to all that, a wide variety of secure user operations with their Bitcoins are possible. Its adaptability to incorporate such a high number of prevalent applications gives Coinos great utility to the common user and astute developers who want to deal with complex Bitcoin transactions.
Coinos offers a user-friendly interface, with a major emphasis on privacy and security. Under the shifting mentality one is seeing nowadays in the Bitcoin wallets space, it presents something quite interesting to the people who are migrating from the previous Mutiny Wallet.
