Been under the weather for the last several days and I found this fascinating tour through Humboldt California with a local beef rancher, organic farmer, musician, weed grower, and ex-con.

California is a beautiful state full of fascinating and wonderful people. It's not all SF & LA.

A close friend grew up there. It's a beautiful part of the state/country.

I don't know if it's true but I was left with the impression they grow some of the best outdoor weed in the world. When I was growing up, Humboldt was notorious for weed and pot smokers aspired to go to their CSU. It was like the Napa Valley of weed. It might still be.

I can attest to that; when I was smoking pot in my teens I remember my buddy had a med card but we still got better weed from a homie in Humboldt than from the dispensaries.

reply

Best beaches in the state imo, but hard to get to.

There is immense beauty and wonderful people in SF and LA as well. The news and political narratives really deserve to be taken down a notch. In such a vast and complex world you basically get what you are searching for.
