pull down to refresh

for historical context, at nearly 40, most of my childhood console & early teen games were bought at either xmas or a birthday, since they were generally expensive purchases (games are still quite expensive, but obvs these days you can wait for sales and have things like gamepass and torrents)
due to the drip feed, it was also important not to buy a shit game because you really had to make the most of it.
Since we're at xmas Eve on my timezone, i thought fuck it, let's reflect on standout nostalgia years.
Of all the years, i think the very best one was the xmas that i got duke nukem 64, goldeneye 64 and ocarana of time.
my god, what a fucking epic selection of games to have on the go at one time, and the best part, having the holiday period to just chill and play the shit out of them while seeing Nan and grandad and eating chocolates
Do you guys have any standout xmas gaming memories?

When I was a child, my family didn't have the financial means to give me the consoles and games that belonged to my generation, but my family, especially my grandfather, always made an effort to make me happy, and I'm very grateful for that. I remember when I was reaching my adolescence the PS2 was launched, but as I mentioned previously about the financial problems and living in an underdeveloped country where everything becomes more expensive, my grandfather still managed to give me a used SNES with some games, and among those games was Street Fighter II and how remarkable it was for me

the memories are what it's all about, plus sf2 is still an excellent game to this day :)

Yes, one year we played Hungry Hungry Hippos on Christmas. That was a fun game.

When a Christmas gathering had enough cousins and one of them brought N64 + Smash bros, we knew it would be one to remember.
