I would imagine thats some type of error in trying to compose his own transaction?
Looking at the address: 0xAC9B01895D2a6096DB382DD2f6aA5c2502956cD7 on etherscan.io it has about 10K in USDT in it.
Error for pay 8.5 BTC? Strange
If you try to compose a bitcoin transaction by hand (or via a script) and then broadcast it yourself.....bad things can happen....
Exactly. That’s my point
Could be the case where the script had been working fine, but had a bug...
Yes, depending of the software that this user/dev used. Maybe had some bug there possibly
Update: The transaction was atomic swap transaction via Thorswap/Thorchain between BTC/USDT: https://x.com/mononautical/status/1869875248813797619
This is a very expensive price to pay for shitcoining.

Ouch! Looks like they only considered the value of the first input (0.14213292 BTC) instead of the sum of all the inputs when calculating the change (0.04210876 BTC).
who needs a security budget when u have fees this high?
brah if you didn't really need your bitcoin send them to me I'll make good use of them
wowzers
Lol I guess ordinals weren't supplimenting the security budget enough for someone so they took it upon themselves to fat finger pay foundry
I guess 91127x is suboptimal.
More like horrendous
.. but not if it were your own Bitaxe that solo-mined that block
