Today I finally found a trusty pistol. In honor of this momentous occasion, I want to share one of my favorite songs about guns. While it's not exactly a pro gun tune, it's a great track. And when it comes to hanging out in the wild west, it seems wise to pack some heat.
What's your favorite songs where guns are a main theme?

Great choice. Where do I know this song from?

It’s a classic. From back when Phoenix was still a bit wild. I’m not sure where it shows up in the media though

I didn't know what a great country song writer he was.
reply
I was surprised too, I think I only became aware because he's somewhat local and has some uniquely New England brand of country

I am not generally that in to country. But I like him as an artist. He has a lot of raw emotion in his music, he feels authentic. And I like this song..

I was a big Staind fan when they came out. I have yet to check out Aaron's solo stuff. I'll check it out.

Wow. Crash test dummies. I don't think I ever explored them beyond the mmm mmm mmm hit song. Ill check it out.

Somehow stumbled back on them about a decade ago only knowing that song and Superman's Song, and unironically became one of my favorite bands once I dug in. Not everyone's thing, but I think they're great.

I haven't thought about filter in forever. I was a big fan of them back in the day. Do you think this song is actually about Kurt Cobain, like my friends told me?
reply
Who knows but they claim it is about some state congressman who blew his brains out at a press conference.
"The song was written about the public suicide of Pennsylvania state treasurer R. Budd Dwyer on January 22, 1987, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Dwyer had been convicted of bribery charges in December 1986, and was expected to receive a lengthy sentence from U.S. District Court Judge Malcolm Muir."

Interesting. Never heard that before. It's cool how songs ending up having multiple meanings. It makes more sense that kids listening that also listened to nirvana would make a different connection..

Nice. I was a big fan of is earlier work including portrait. The newest one I enjoyed very much was "The Golden Age of Grotesque". Antichrist has to be the over all favorite for me, mechanical animals a close second.
