They urged neighbors to do their own research, insisting it would reveal that the mineral embraced for generations to improve oral health was actually a dangerous substance that could harm their organs. They shared photos of corroded pipes and scarred arms they claimed were damaged by the acidic, concentrated form of fluoride. Was it worth $25,000 a year in tax dollars for the city to put fluoride in drinking water?
The newfound national attention on fluoride injects the intense partisan passions of a Trump presidency into an issue that historically has been hyperlocal. Most Americans drink fluoridated water to strengthen their teeth. But backlash is growing because of research showing potential harms. A Florida city commission voted last week to remove fluoride, with one commissioner citing Kennedy’s comments.
I'm absolutely confused. I was born at a place where groundwater had a lot of fluoride, but it was considered harmful h our teeth. I remember I saw many people with orange stains/plank on their teeth. My mother used to warn me about drinking the groundwater. We had government water supply for drinking purpose.
What do you think? Is flouride good for health or it should totally be eliminated out of drinking water?

carpet bombing the public water system with flouride is terrible for people ( as they cannot monitor their intake or usage of flouride...realistically) and the ecosystem.
i think administering flouride at a prescribed amount to prevent tooth decay is very reasonable and probably improves health without significant side effects. we completely have the means to reap any prescribed benefit of flouride without dumping it into our public water systems.

Ah …… yes. Why would you not give informed consent to the patients as every other medical intervention calls for? If people wanted fluoride treatments, they could buy them or get fluoride toothpaste for personal use. Forcing them on every customer in a water system is pure tyranny.

i live in Oregon where we dont have flouride added to water. toothpaste works for adults, for kids...doctors and dentists provide flouride paste onto kids teeth usually at routine checkups and also my doc prescribed a little bottle of flouride you can give to your kid daily to make sure they dont fall prey to early tooth decay ( at least they did for me and all my friends kids). there is lots of ways to handle it in my experience when its not in the water.

nano hydroxyapatite is far superior at prevent tooth decay. changed around a year ago and never looked back.

There's plenty of evidence that topical application of fluoride strengthens enamel: aka, brushing your teeth.
My issue with fluoridating the drinking water (other than it being tax funded) is that it's mass medication of the population, with no regard for individual conditions or appropriate dosages and it's the wrong delivery mechanism for the treatment.

I understand the application but I've seen people affected by Fluorosis because of fluoride in water.
It even causes some IQ issues for Children.

<sarcasm>Why don’t you have issues with medical practices without medical licenses. The people dumping it in the water have no idea of the dosages and the people giving the order to dump the fluoride into the water are just politicians that know everything to know about medicine. When you state it this way, it sounds like the height of lunacy.</sarcasm>

Fluoride is unacceptable in water. You know we have that in Rajasthan and there are many harmful effects detected there. I posted somthing that's also related.

My solution to the problem is to either use rainwater, which I personally collect or to go out and buy reverse osmosis filtered water from the local grocery stores. We have been doing it for a long time. Before that we were getting water directly from wells or artesian wells. I have known about fluoride for at least 30 years. BTW, while my kids were growing up we also drank raw milk, (gasping in shock). We also eat raw eggs often (against all warnings).

We're still doing it. I too drank a lot of raw milk while growing up. We're still drinking water from handpumps in the Northwestern part of India. I'm also against the growing popularity of bottled water.

Surely tap water is safer here as well. I refuse to buy bottled water most of the times. We've handpumps here and they are the source of real mineral water.

Lower but non-zero. You can't taste it. Buildings usually have an ion-exchanger so it can be different for every household.

Fluoride lowers your IQ, makes you docile, and makes your bones brittle. It's toxic waste. They say it benefits our teeth. Then why the hell are we drinking and bathing in it? Saying "the US says it's good" is a logical fallacy known as appealing to authority. Just because an authority says something doesn't make it true.

Filter is also something that for me is unacceptable because it also flushes out essential minerals.

If it is 0.7–1.2 mg/L in drinking water then it's good. If more than 1.2 mg/L, it can lead bone deformities and dental issues.
