I got this in my email. I got this in my email. Any free alternatives?
Hi,
We’re reaching out to inform you that the Alby shared wallet service will be discontinued on January 4, 2025. To continue enjoying permissionless and inexpensive payments, it’s time to transition to your own Alby Hub. Find all details here.
Please note that new limits on the shared wallet service will take effect on November 22, 2024.
Move to Alby Hub and enjoy:
  • A self-custodial wallet without any payment limits
  • Access to all Alby services, including your lightning address
  • Priority support for Alby Cloud users
  • Exclusive access to Alby Go, our new mobile app
  • Even more direct app connections: one place for all your bitcoin payments
  • Take control over your bitcoin. Your Hub is waiting in your Alby account. ✨
Join a personal onboarding session to get all your questions answered.
Best regards, Your @Alby Team
What happens to my shared Alby Wallet?
If you created an Alby account before March 24, 2024, withdraw your sats until including January 3, 2025. Spin up your own Alby Hub to withdraw any remaining balance from the shared wallet. We’ll provide you with guidance and reminders throughout this transition to ensure a smooth process.
If you don't withdraw your funds by January 4, 2025, your remaining balance will be converted into Fee Credits. These credits will be used to cover fees of one month Alby Cloud subscription and one payment channel making it easy to start your own self-custodial Hub. You are able to transfer your funds to your new Alby Hub and retain access to your sats. Learn more about Fee Credits here.
This approach serves as a bridge—easing the transition from legacy wallets while empowering you to maintain an active presence in the lightning network.

You could try coinos.io

I've been using Coinos to send and receive, and it's been pretty smooth. Any idea if they have a browser extension like Alby?

I think it's just available on the browser, but they have API docs here and a Nostr profile.

You can connect Alby Extension to CoinOS via NWC!
Add new wallet, choose your own wallet -> NWC and paste the connection string from CoinOS

Using Alby extension and NWC is amazing easy! Check this out.

And my AlbyGo app managing 3 accounts (soon more):

I’m willing to pay to post if I can teach you something.

Very few things can make me interested now. I am an old guy that saw a lot in his life. And at this level of world stupidity, only new things about Bitcoin can bring me more interest. All the rest is pure garbage for me.
reply
Por supuesto. If I can teach you something about Bitcoin then I will have accomplished something in my eyes.
