anti-vaccine activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
I know he's suspicious of vaccines generally, and considers them a likely culprit for the chronic disease epidemic, but I never think this characterization is fair. His general position seems to be:
  1. subject vaccines to the same standards as other drugs
  2. remove blanket immunity from vaccines
It's more like not-pro-vaccine than anti-vaccine to me.

It's more like not a mindless cultist...
Your characterization is pretty accurate to what I've heard from him, but it should also be noted that he does believe in the efficacy of the original vaccines and in the technology in general.
I'd characterize his position as something like "It's pretty clear that most vaccines on the market work for their intended purposes, but we should find out if there are any serious health complications from taking so many during early childhood."

Yes the "vaccine problem" could be solved by simply removing liability protection. This would force vaccine makers to do proper safety testing and to properly disclose those findings.
This would allow the public to make informed choices. If you had a 1/50000 chance of developing a heart arrhythmia however it protected you against some major pandemic....you could choose the path of the lesser evil.
There are certain tradeoffs that probably wouldn't be worth it....for example when my kids were young I was talking about this concept to his pediatrician (who was not a vaccine pusher)....and the Dr said "basically the risk of severe reaction to chicken pox is fairly minimal and thus might want to just risk it if vaccine side-effects are a concern"

Immunities from liability are huge moral hazards. While they can serve a useful and legitimate purpose, the downsides are rather severe.

HHS has the biggest budget of any federal agency. Bigger than defense.
reply
True, but it's mostly just transfer payments for Medicare and Medicaid. There's not as much staff to cut as you might imagine.

Because “vaccines cause autism” or “don’t vaccinate and save children” is exactly what antivaxers don’t say, or do they? I am confused.

You sent me the well produced rant of a pro-left-establishment political comedian. I've listened to hours of RFK on podcasts.
Maybe I'm an idiot, but I think I understand his position on vaccines better than someone who only watched that episode or other content filtered and deprived of full context.

I sent you this video because I was lazy to put this together myself. We both know it is not important here.

A person can also not be 100% correct and yet asking good questions that no one is supposed to ask.

Can you pls be more specific what good questions are not supposed to be asked?

FDA revolving door with the industry it regulates Lack of liability of vaccine makers Massive increase if frequency and number of vaccines after the removal of liability He asked many questions about Fauci and his track record.
I mean the guy went after polluting corporations for years. Have met many progressives that have long followed him for these reasons.
I have said, I don't think he's right about everything he says but the reason he has been attacked is his stance against powerful corporations that basically own the media through ad dollars.
He may be wrong in some of his conclusions but instead of fair reporting on him all I see is smears. It's really telling. They fear him.

That's interesting. In what sense are vaccines not subject to the same standards in the US? Like in less testing before deployment?
reply
He has explained his position many times as not anti-vax. For a culture that prides itself on self actualition what they do to RFK is pretty inconsistent.

There's plenty to enjoy with this one without gloating.
If we end up getting Alex Jones as WH Press Secretary, then I'll brag about having joked about that being the funniest outcome.

As you read MSN posts over the coming weeks, remember: "Vaccine-denier" = "pointed out that childhood vaccines were exempt from placebo safety trials"

Here’s his statement.
Thank you @realDonaldTrump for your leadership and courage. I'm committed to advancing your vision to Make America Healthy Again.
We have a generational opportunity to bring together the greatest minds in science, medicine, industry, and government to put an end to the chronic disease epidemic.
I look forward to working with the more than 80,000 employees at HHS to free the agencies from the smothering cloud of corporate capture so they can pursue their mission to make Americans once again the healthiest people on Earth.
Together we will clean up corruption, stop the revolving door between industry and government, and return our health agencies to their rich tradition of gold-standard, evidence-based science. I will provide Americans with transparency and access to all the data so they can make informed choices for themselves and their families.
My commitment to the American people is to be an honest public servant. Let’s go!
That’s great news imo. I’ve supported his work at Children’s Health Defence for years but I never thought he would get into the government! 🙏🙏🙏

Great to see America is doing everything to obsolete itself. At least working for a goal, unlike the rest of the world. Obligatory "I'm not sure if it's good or bad but we'll find out".
