European football is still debating about the recent Ballon d’Or 2024. As you may know, Rodri won it against Vinicius Jr and, there are many fans who consider it unfair. Whether we like it or not, it’s a decision taken by a hundred journalists over the world and based on several criteria. I am sure that Vinicius will win it in the future.
Unfortunately, Rodri will not be available for several months as you could appreciate last Monday when he received the prize with crutches, still recovering from his ACL injury. This week, his mates at Man City, travel to Portugal to play against Sporting Clube. This is an interesting match, as the Portuguese coach, Amorim, will join Manchester United from November 11th. So the rivalry has already started before moving countries.
Another interesting clash this week is Liverpool vs Leverkusen, with both teams at the top 8. Following a victory against Brighton yesterday, Anfield fans must be really happy at the top of the Premiership table. Salah scored at 72 minutes to win the match. Meanwhile, Leverkusen only could draw against Stuttgart last Friday.
A classic fixture from 90s between Real Madrid and AC Milan will complete Tuesday for stackers. Real Madrid has not played this weekend as they had to travel to Valencia. As you may have read, there has a been a terrible storm in Eastern Spain affecting to Valencia area. At least 214 people are claimed to be dead and still counting. Obviously, football is not a priority and the match has been postponed. Milan beat Monza yesterday and leaves them 7th in Serie A.
On Wednesday, Inter Milan will receive Arsenal. The Gunners lost the match against Newcastle yesterday which leaves them 4th in the Premiership. Inter will play tonight against Venezia, chasing Napoli at the top of Serie A.
Then, I can only bring again the surprise team to the stackers. Brest pays a visit to Sparta Praha. Will they be able to extend their winning strike? I must acknowledge that I did not consider them to be at the top 8 teams, but they are proving me wrong. They are situated 10th in the French League One, losing their match last night against Niza. Perhaps, they are focused on the European clash.
Finally, after losing last two matches, Bayern Munich needs a win to keep their chances to qualify for last 16 round. Benfica is a tough rival, though they lost their last match against Feyenoord.
So, plenty of great matches to watch and enjoy.
