Before delving into NDE research, Long was puzzled by questions such as “who we are,” he felt that we are much more than just how our physical brain operates. Near-death experiences provide overwhelming evidence for the existence of a consciousness apart from the body—a more eternal existence, said Long. We are not just constrained operating machines but lives with numerous possibilities beyond our current recognition. This is “the most powerfully positive message” for all humanity, he added.
Are we ready for this?
I'm ready. It's time to wake up and remember who we are. I definitely think facing ones mortality it key to helping them see that we are much more than we tend to believe.
reply
Do we really have to remember who we are? We should already know and have known, except for those accepting the propaganda.
reply
It's within us for sure. It's just about letting go of illusion for me. So maybe there is no need to remember anything. It just is.
reply
It just is but maybe you have to connect to it. That is the hard part. Inner work is not the easy work.

“Other common features of encounters with God described in near-death experiences include nonjudgment, acceptance of who they are and a sense of unity or oneness with God.”
I’m ready for this. I believe humanity as a whole evolves with more people gaining these kinds of experiences whether it’s from an NDE or other experience. It’s great to see this studied scientifically as well, for those who don’t feel connected to spiritual teachings.
reply
Yes, but if you want to progress as individuals and a species, we must make the move.
reply
Yep. The book I wrote and linked elsewhere on meditation was based on an NDE I had initially.

I had my NDE in a motorcycle accident when I was in high school. It changed my path in life and made me go on a more spiritual path.

What manner of NDE did you have?

I hit a tree about 20 feet high after going over a cliff at a good clip. From the time I hit the tree until someone came from fairly far away, I was watching the whole thing, I guess the article calls it out of body, 360 degree vision. I watched my friends run over to where I was on the ground. I didn’t feel hitting the ground but I saw myself laying there. It was really an odd sight and feeling. I had the feeling that I was sent back to regain consciousness when my friends tried to rouse me. That one kept me in the hospital for three weeks with various injuries.
reply
Yikes. Why do you think you hit the tree and went over the cliff in hindsight? I experienced that 360 degree vision business. It was disorienting.
