This is a top 10 movie for me. It was so much of it's own thing - a sort of dark comedy revenge thriller, before revenge thrillers were overdone, with the perfect amount of implausibility. I remember being really moved by it at the time. It also marked Nicolas Cage's redemption as an actor mirroring the redemption of the protagonist, Robin (for me at least). It starts out incredibly slow before it punches you in face.
The writer and director Michael Sarnoski went on to write and direct the Quiet Place spin-off/prequel which I haven't seen yet.
I wrote all of this to share a clip of my favorite scene which I like to watch from time to time:
I love this scene, and the movie as a whole too.
Is it really a revenge thriller though? The trailers made it seem like one, but it's really more just like a straight up character drama, imo.

I don't recall exactly tbh. My memory is it had revenge thriller moments, but perhaps few enough to escape the genre.

Hmm, can't remember either. Maybe it's time to watch it again :)
