I am in the mood for something new. I want to watch something kind of dark and heavy. Something along the lines of Midsommar, Joker, Hereditary, There Will be Blood, Mandy, These are dark movies that I really like a lot, but I have seen too many times. Any great suggestions will get some zaps. Let's hear them
pull down to refresh
Cargo 200 - Balabanov Hypernormalisation - Curtis
Never heard of either. Perfect. Thanks
ooohh, and of course: Irreversible - Gaspar Noé
but don’t read Wikipedia, it literally spoils the entire film
American film critic Roger Ebert called Irréversible "a movie so violent and cruel that most people will find it unwatchable"
I don't even watch trailers. I like a good surprise. Thanks for the suggestion.
Funny Games - Hanneke
You should check this one out.
Definitely a favorite
That is a great one. I have only seen it once and I have it on my movie server already. I don't remember it that well but I remember liking it.
The Platform (2019). before watching the film, know that the record for starvation is 382 days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlfooqeZcdY
Great movie
Wow. That looks good.
Escape Room
My darkest movie ever is probably Requiem for a Dream but I suspect you've seen it.
I get the impression you'd love The Fountain too if you haven't seen it. It's not dark but super good in its own way.
I don't remember The Fountain. I am pretty sure I have seen it and it is in my collection. That's one I will consider.
I watched Requiem for a Dream earlier today. It is a good one. And definitely the vibe and going for. Yes, I am being a number today... Don't tell anyone. 🤫
That's the one with Wolverine, right?
Yep!
Psycho-1960
Is it psycho from 1960 or psychosis. I did I search online and didn't find it.
My bad, it's psycho, the keyboard played tricks on me hahaha
I figured. Thanks for the suggestion.
You are welcome. I already corrected it so other users know the name correctly.
Never heard of that. I'll add it to my list. Something older sounds intriguing.
I really like old movies.
Have you seen Nightcrawler? That on was pretty dark and IMO a very good movie.
Great suggestion.
My favorite: Coherence
Good movie!
Hardware (1990) https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099740/

New to me. Looks interesting. Thanks.
I have not seen that one since 1990 or so, all I remember that it was scary, dark shit...
Especially when you get some additional info on the ending, better see it first hehe!
the witch
This is one of my favorites.
Try The Departed, No Country for Old Men, or American Psycho.
I have seen the second 2. I don't know the departed. I'll add it to my list.
Just watched the trailer. So many good actors.
El Conde
is a dark vampire movie
Thanks.
Gangs of New York
Eyes wide shut
Buffalo 66
Pontypool
I feel like I remember the name but I don't think I have seen it.

I've never seen it. Added.
Buffalo 66
I'll check it out. Thanks.
Thanks. I have never seen this.
Clockwork Orange or The House that Jack Built or The Witch
Do not recommend any of these, but it doesn't get any darker than these three films.

The Dark Knight (2008) of course
Classic.
The Babadook
Great movie!
Have you seen Observe and Report? I'm not sure why that came to mind first, but it's great and much darker than you'd expect.
I don't know that one either. Thanks.
Bone Tomahawk is a good one.
Has anyone seen Martyrs? That movie is intense. Don't know if I would watch it again.
