What is the best setup for a lightning bar like @Pubkey?

Recently we saw Donald Trump make a purchase of bitcoin at a bar, and it worked! How did they do it? What app were they using? Do they run a node? How do they manage the node? @pubkey you online?

I just assume they used lightning, but what is the optimal setup? Ultimately, I'd like to be able to set these up for people, so bars and restaurants can have BOLT12 QR codes displayed for all their employees, next to a picture of them, but I don't know what the best option is for companies. Help me!! There's too many options!!

I think there are different solutions depending on the knowledge of the staff and business owner. For a business that just wants to accept sats without thinking about it, something like coinos makes sense.

I assume for specifically Bitcoin bars, because the staff tend to be bitcoiners so they're more nimble to changing up their setup and doing things like node running.

Edit: actually coinos seems to have grown a lot since last I checked and it looks slick even for hardcore bitcoiners

There are many options for a business to accept BTC as a payment. Maybe @DarthCoin has a guide about it.

If you want to be owner or to have the custody of the BTC, you'll need a LN node.

But, if the priority is to start you can do it for example with Wallet of Satoshi that it includes a Point of Sales, so the staff can charge the customer and it can be configured to only one wallet (manager) be able to spend from the wallet.

Coinos is a great option too. It just need to create an account on their site.

PubKey has a close connection with Zeus Wallet, and I believe the founder set up their payment system. I haven't been there for a while, but generally speaking they don't encourage bitcoin/lightning payments, though it is an option. I think the Trump thing was a one off publicity opportunity.

I thought I heard a while back that square was adding lightning but I haven't seen it in person. I see their kiosks at a lot of places though.

The barrier to entry seems to be the understanding of how to run a node and managing (automating) its liquidity, but if you see my other post asking what to pick, nobody knows the answer. There are too many different ways to do this.

Yes, they need a way to create invoices. Lightning is anonymous and there isn’t a way to send money without an invoice.

But, with BOLT12, I’m not sure that’s the case anymore.

Maybe the establishment has a BTCPayServer or it may be using Swiss Bitcoin Pay, if there are bitcoin gateways that allow payment for the products you have, you can set up a store, point of sale terminals among other things. Maybe it was a normal payment. You consume 50 usd, I come with my wallet and I create an invoice for that amount. The first applications that I mentioned have the advantage of accounting for the operations and keeping track, they are made for that.
