Voted daily because you specified lightning via Fountain and now SN (still new - BLOWS my mind I got a few hundred sats for job posts and being active!!!!) I feel like I give as much as I get.
But outside of a few times to try it out or orange pill a friend I don't spend on chain.

Almost never until I moved to ATX about 3 months ago. Now there are a decent number of restaurants and services I can pay for with Bitcoin along with paying friends back in sats for drinks, donating, stacker.news, and stuff like that.

I spend every damn day. I give away sats buy stuff with them stream them and even put them at risk vía covered calls! What’s the point of having sats if I’m not going to use them! If I had saylor’s stack I would give away BTC like it was burning up the private key that secures them
reply
Lately daily because if v4v… I spend most of the sats I earn here on SN and in fountain… works out well and never need to touch my HODL stack or secondary stackl. Bonus is that I’m very well versed in the lightning wallet space now.

Why would I spend my precious sats if merchants keep accepting my worthless fiat?
reply
Why would you still have worthless fiat to spend when you could buy precious sats?
reply
I always wonder how people still have fiat to buy sats with. Unless they are living below their means and stacking the excess, in which case kudos.
reply
Because I have an operating financial budget for fiat expenses.
Exchanging that for bitcoin and back to fiat would just make me loose on fees and spreads.
reply
If you start spending sats where you can, that budget will shrink to match. This leaves you with more sats in the end.

I have an agreement with a friend to pay him in bitcoin every Monday for my part of the fees for renting the indoor soccer field here

I live on sats in my daily life, so daily. Once you have a decent amount of buffer, it's easier than many people may think, even with the fiat price being what it is.

A few times a month. It's definitely picking up. Conferences, steak delivery, local tacos.
reply
For purchases maybe a few times a month. I usually use it to top up phone credit and one-off Amazon purchases.
But then there's also micropayments like stacker and podcasting apps. These are harder to quantify but I use them daily.
