About a month ago, the price was 7 euros, and the update was as well. I know having version 6 will grant some rewards when purchasing version 7, but will that be the only reason? When I saw this, I was reminded of @k00b's comment ("I'd bet we'll be able to see this release in GDP numbers.")

I mostly meant productivity would decrease after release but same same I guess.

I'll wager that we at least see a dip in test scores. I remember when WoW turned my campus into a complete ghost town.

Is civ really that popular still? I feel like it’s mostly old guys that play it, the kids these days are mostly into free to play and mobile games

Based on my observations of previous releases, post-launch support includes numerous paid updates introducing new civilizations, wonders, and other content over several years.

Does it have anything to do with the release of Civ 7? I guess it should be the other way around and keep the price of Civ 6 low.

Buy the 6 and wait a year for the 7. I bought all my games approx 10$
