Unpopular opinion: Kraken is not too bad because you can withdraw for free to cold storage using the LN. You have to use the Pro version of the website to avoid a large spread on the spot price if i recall well.

Why leave your bitcoins on exchange ? Nor your keys, not your coins.
reply
The exchange is only used for buying, and the coins will be immediately withdrawn to cold-storage (just realized I wasn't very clear in the original post.. oh well)

My English isn't very good, so I may have misunderstood.

I recommend https://hodlhodl.com it is a p2p bitcoin exchange without KYC, you may find some lnp2p telegram community a bitcoin lightning buying and selling bot without kyc
reply
Thanks for the recommendations.
But is it easy for a beginner to buy with some “size” on Hodl Hodl or lnp2p (goal is to get 1 BTC in 10 days). KYC is not a big problem (asking for a friend obviously).

I think it is a very large volume for such a short time; but if you can acquire a good part

After some research, it seems that River and Swan have some nice fee promotions, and they're Bitcoin-only brokers.
Swan: zero fees until you buy up to $10,000
River: zero fees when setting up recurring buys

weird to not have strike on there
reply
True. I forgot it from the options!
After a little research, it seems like the best option for beginners, also because of its Lightning plus fiat/fintech capabilities.

Coin base my favorite one

Robosats or Bisq

Good ones, but unfortunately neither is very beginner-friendly.
Haven't tried Bisq 2 yet though.

Cash app is already on a lot of peoples phones, and it pairs with the bitkey well.
I think Strike has better spreads and more bitcoin centric features.

Regarding additional features, Strike also lets you send fiat on the Lightning Network (although in a custodial and regulated way).
Could be useful for those who don’t want to report all Lightning spends as taxable events to the IRS and still stay compliant.
For some, it could be like an all-in-one app: stack BTC to cold storage, but top up some fiat and split bills with friends etc.

No Strike. 😢
