@riberet19 asked me an intriguing question on one of my posts where I've detailed 'How much do weddings cost around the world?.

He asked if we shouldn't also look at how much it costs to get divorced in certain countries. To my surprise, the statistics for different countries aren't available there and all I could find is just divorce costs in US States. Take a look.

There are fewest divorces in India. The costs for a divorce, as I know, are less than $1000. If the case is very much prolonged, say for years, it would cost an additional sum of $200 to 300 yearly.

You're very much right about India. I agree. There is so much competition among lawyers that it's not difficult to find a lawyer who takes your case for very low fees.

This is bullshit, you can get a divorce without using lawyers and file the paperwork yourself, decide the asset split yourselves, and the cost is a few hundred dollars... afaik.

Sounds about right. If you have no kids its cheaper and easier. Depends on how much of one of the spouses is an asshole or not also. You can do it for almost $0 if both parties just agree, no kids involved, and just go to the court house.

Probably pretty close to correct! Depends on how much "stuff" you have also. Its pretty rare when both parties just agree and split ways. Its usually couples that don't have much or one spouse just doesn't care because they want to get as far away asap!

yeah I think this data is considering only the legal costs. Moral and emotional costs are sometimes drastic and can take a big percentage of the whole!
