The level of violence between opposing sides continues to grow in America and the question is: are we prepared for what can happen? Did no one think that a candidate could be attacked? Was the security sufficient? It is unfortunate to see the level of violence that is brewing in different nations of the world, that democracy is in danger even in a country where it is supposed to be the main thing. It is not a question of whether you are for or against Trump, there cannot be, in the modern era, in a civilized country, assassination attempts or, worse still, the latent danger of a civil war. He must do what is necessary to pacify nations, build even among those who think differently.
Up to Reagan a president was assassinated or an attempt was made about every 20 years. I pray those times are not back!

It should be emphasized that it is not "violence between opposing sides". Essentially all of the political violence in America comes from the left and is directed at the right.
reply
True, at this point, it is the left-wing partisans who are bringing violence not only to America, but to other countries as well.

Democracy is already dead. If the past 8 years has taught me anything it's that it doesn't matter at all who the president is, the deep state is running this show.
reply
At some point I must accept that democracy is an illusion. There are powers beneath the visible power that control everything and leave little room for individuals to do anything. However, I try to believe that maybe we can make some differences. Perhaps one day our individual actions will allow us to build together something different from what we have been sold for years.

The same has happened recently, I believe it was in Slovakia. Their Prime Minister, who is staunchly against the war in Ukraine, and pro a peaceful solution of the conflict, has been targeted with the usual aggressive verbal attacks, then later, a lunatic, possibly manipulated by the vitriolic rhetoric, tried to assassinate him.
