This book set me on my track to becoming a libertarian (possibly even an anarchist). It's a great story, but with some great lessons on politics and freedom. Robert Heinlein is a great author.

I read The Invisible Hook: The Hidden Economics of Pirates by Peter T. Leeson some years ago and I found a recommendation online that this book was similar.
The section on prison gang taxation is particularly interesting.
I only just started it but seems promising. Not many things better than having passive fiat income which can be swapped for the hardest asset on earth!
