They found their cover-story: 'over-capacities!' In the escalating trade tensions between the United States and China, President Joe Biden is poised to escalate the conflict with the announcement of fresh tariffs on Chinese imports. These tariffs are specifically aimed at key sectors including electric vehicles (EVs), semiconductors, solar equipment, and medical supplies.
The proposed tariffs, which could surge existing rates from 25% to a staggering 100%, underscore the Biden administration's determination to confront China's alleged manufacturing 'overcapacity,' particularly in the EV sector. This move comes amidst mounting concerns over China's dominance in the global EV market and its purported non-market practices.
The announcement is scheduled for Tuesday.
They don't want average people to own cars. They want total control over movement, except for the elites who can afford EVs.

I think the problem is these cars are so cheap no one will want to buy American cars... it's only China and Tesla that can maintain margins as the prices drop...

You have a plan to break out of this shit??!
reply
Personally, all I've got, is plan B.

Why compete with chinese? I think people buying american, german or chinese cars expect something different. Are chairs and sofas competing with each other?
The war continues

We're trying to save the planet here!
How can we do that if people can afford EV's?

No, that’s just a virtue signal. They’re going to save the world by blocking out the Sun.

Save the world by blocking the sun? Wouldnt it be even better if we just take a journey to the sun and populate it? lol We could make one of those fake island on the surface lol
reply
Better yet if we only send the climate hysterics on that trip.

All the feminists and believers. lol Just imagine how we could clean up this world.

Electric cars? If you wait a few years people will not even be able to afford a chinese car. They will be driving electric scooters you even can not sit on. Look at europe. Working class driving the same cars like 10years ago. Many of them are 20years + A lot of people are buying used cars because they can not afford new cars. So the price for old used cars is even rising. Newer cars have more electric and more problems because of stupid green engineering and useless new features. If a family buys a 10year old car they need some money on the side for repairs but sometimes a repair is too expensive. So it is even better to buy a 20year old car that has less things to repair. So who will buy a used ev in 10years if the battery is toast? I think the working class will be driving 30year old petrol cars in 10years.

You may be right

Cars are now spyware. EVs are even worse. Imagine your auto company shutting down your car because you tweeted something wrong.
I would love to buy a car which doesn't emit data to anyone.

Are the tariffs even working? I know I dont want to own a chinese car, thats why I dont touch Volvo. Half of these EV cars are junk, thats why they are sitting in lots in China.
