News Of The Week

Welcome to this week’s issue of the Books And Articles newsletter. Thanks again for all of the quality posts. This week I posted the Book Reviews Directory 11/23-3/24. You can find all of the book reviews that have been posted to this territory prior to March 31, 2024. I anticipate that SN will soon permit perpetual edits, so at that point I will keep that post updated with new reviews. I will also categorize the directory by genres as it grows.
Due to the sheer number of quality posts this week, I am sure I missed placing a few original content posts into the index sections of the newsletter. I simply ran out of time. I promise to try my best to catch up this week.
Thanks again to everyone for helping this territory grow into what we want it to be.
I hope everyone has a good week.

Top Five Posts Of The Week

The top post of the week will be forwarded 50% of the zaps earned on this week’s newsletter post. Rankings will be determined using the SN zaprank.
Here are this week’s top posts:

Siggy’s Suggestions

This is a link post from @Roll announcing the release of a new bitcoin book. Like most here, a new bitcoin book always piques my interest. I hope someone does a book review soon so we can learn more about it.
I found this article both informative and sad. I wasn’t aware of a few of the companies listed here. I am very aware of another. My wife’s family has a long tradition of working for one of these companies. It has put food on the table for three generations while building technological marvels and weapons of war.
The author announced the publication of his latest book, a science fiction work about bitcoin. I am not much of a science fiction guy myself, but I know there are plenty of stackers here with the chops to give this book a look and post a review. I look forward to reading more about its post publication progress. Welcome, @eddieoz, to SN and to our territory!
This post was timely for me, since I was questioning the usefulness of poll posts recently. @Taft showed us here that they can be useful and engaging- 29 votes and 14 comments on an important topic.

Thank you very much for the kind mention!!
The idea behind this story was to create a Bitcoin journey through a cyberpunk realm, where a trader starts to learn more deeply about Bitcoin beyond just the investment aspect. The hero learns a lot of technical details, but also delves into the complex realms of morality and ethics within our ecosystem.
I sincerely hope the readers enjoy the story and find it engaging!

Good luck and keep us posted. I'm sure you will find some stackers who will give it a read. I will too.

I remember a few of those mergers that created the large company I'm talking about.

Whenever I come to SN I search for this post first of all and read the suggestions. Thanks @siggy47

These newsletter are like pearls from the ocean which you don't need to explore now. Just type @siggy47's newsletter for books and articles and dive into the most valuable pieces of writing.

Soon, Siggy, soon.

Thanks for keeping my work in this edition! I am working on getting solid prints for physical copies, although I don't have a way to do that for sats. I don't know any print on demand for books that does the service for sats, do you guys?
reply
I wish I had some information. Someone on here may.

My test print should be here in about a week or so.

This is such a cool community you're cultivating. How are whatever engagement metrics you have looking?

I haven't got a clue. I sort of rely on @davidw 's posts. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

How about just a finger in the wind guesstimate?
Do you feel like more people are posting, commenting, and zapping?

#486959 has some easy to digest charts. All of the above for ~booksandarticles

That's awesome! It looks like ~booksandarticles is right at the top of a lot of those.

Oh yeah. I really do. It varies by week, but the overall trend is up. I also like that new people are posting while the consistent quality content producers don't seem to be losing interest.
I see the territory being a natural fit for subs when they become available. There is a clear distinction between original creative writing, on the one hand, and essays, reviews and discussion on the other. I want to keep developing and improving both.
I also want to focus on keeping quality old content visible and easily accessible. Next week, I'm going to start picking out an old, very popular post to feature each week as a sort of golden oldie. I'll write something about it and hopefully give it a second life here on SN.

That's a great idea. I recall someone pitching an idea for SN to feature something like "the best all-time posts from this date" as a way of resurrecting great content.
reply
I always thought that was a good idea. Before territories I used to toy with the idea of putting out a recurring post featuring one old post from SN's first year.
reply
Sometimes I browse the top all-time posts, to see if I missed anything good. I should probably do something to highlight them, though.
reply
I also do that, though I would like to be able to account for top posts during time periods when stackers were being miserly. Maybe zaprank accounts for that? I'm not sure.
Great digest, as usual.

wao already in that top of books are incredible writers in literature, such as Cervantes for example, excellent project, it really is valuable content throughout the library itself, good luck and continue with it, it is of great value to the community that still appreciates good literature. congratulations.
