Using light mode is torture for my eyes.

It's 2024. At this point, it's just irresponsible for a website/app to not give you a dark mode option.

Using dark mode is torture for my eyes. 😂

reply

There's no accounting for taste ;)

reply

Lol 🤣 this was exactly how I felt when accidentally switched to light theme last time

reply

I actually think sn looks incredibly busy and downright hard to look at in light mode. Should default to black.

dark mode all day

reply

This is only understandable to those who live in front of a computer.

It's a shame I'm so busy with work, but I always try to fit it in when I can.

reply

Depends on the hour of the day and how much natural light there is.

reply

Of course dark, I'm not a psychopath.

reply

According to this poll, there are still lunatics that use light mode.

Who are you and who hurt you?

reply

I always figured light mode was a trick, set as the default to drive away anyone who couldn't figure out how to get to dark mode.

reply

dark mode 🫨

reply

TIL theres a dark mode

reply

I let my device and operating system adjust by time of day (desktop exempt, if using LibreWolf).

reply

light! 😎

I'm missing the option for both, but right now, light.

reply

Dark mode. I'm inherently distrustful of anyone who willingly chooses to use light mode for any website where the option for dark mode is available* instead...there's a strong correlation with psychopathy and light mode users.

  • = of course, this doesn't apply if you're in a situation that requires it, such as using a device in direct sunlight
reply

Might be a bit of an over-generalisation, but from my experience outside of SN…

  • Dark mode is overwhelming favoured by techies, devs and males.
  • Light mode is still favoured by the masses and ladies during daytime.
  • Adoption of dark mode is higher in younger demographics (89% in 18-29yrs vs 75% other age groups)

It's time to go to the dark side

reply

light on my laptop, dark on my phone.

reply

Are you doing this to save battery, or is there something else going on?

reply

No I just never switched it to dark mode on my laptop. I usually use my laptop during the day and my phone at night so maybe that has something to do with it.

reply

Light mode is for insane people

reply

there is a light version?

reply

Please excuse my terrible red circle

https://m.stacker.news/20059

reply

imagine how terrible it would be in light mode. You wouldn't even know it was terrible cause you'd be blind.

reply

Thanks I didn’t saw it, only real explanation is light mode burned my eyes

reply

oh i know. i just didn't realize people actually used it. bad joke, i know. haha

reply

oh sorry, it was early for me so I interpreted it as a literal question! :)

reply

Dark mode of course :)

reply

Here I was thinking SN dark mode was impossible to read and nobody would be using it...how wrong I am. Do you not find it difficult to read large amounts of text in dark mode? I am sure I have read some objective studies on the UX improvements of light mode for text.

Edit: Maybe Psychopath / lunatic.

reply

I can have a dark side if you want

Good post 😘
