Damn I kinda don't care. ECB has no power over bitcoin

You can't ban Bitcoin. China has already proven this.

Somehow people forget it

ASIC mining sites are such a big visible target for governments. https://bitcoinmagazine.com/business/mining-industry-makes-bitcoin-vulnerable

Good read, but I'm sure in such a scenario some sort of fork would happen.

Looks more like a ban to centralization, and no, PoS is not an answers, centralization is way easier with PoS.

They're still using that Alex De Vries FUD from 2016. It's so debunked; it's almost embarrassing that an institution like the ECB can't do better than these fake calculations and "estimates".
reply
something has to be blamed if you have collapsed the system for millions of its inhabitants. to hell with ECB
reply
wouldn't it be funny if the bitcoin miners stopped operation before they were asked to, and then the system collapses anyway?
won't happen, but ya know.
reply
it would indeed but thank you satoshi for your brilliant idea of 'difficulty adjustment' that makes Bitcoin anti-fragile
reply
EU already solved their mining "problem". Miners are priced out due to other previous poor choices.

In due time, everyone who took this angle will be exposed as a short sighted fool. Bitcoin will do more for the environment than any technology that has ever come before it.
Regardless of your viewpoints on climate change, I think everyone can agree that we want to be good stewards of the environment. Nobody in Bitcoin wants to boil the ocean, or destroy the environment. Nobody.
Look no further than projects like Vespene Energy (https://vespene.energy/). If anyone can look at what they are doing, and take the stance that Bitcoin mining is bad for the environment, they cannot be helped. Well intentioned people are being silently programed by fiat misinformation and have lost the ability to see the forest through the trees.
THE BEST TOOL TO FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE IS BITCOIN.
Not hyperbole, it's just true. Without harnessing human incentives, nothing will be done. Legislation won't do shit. Incentives will, and they will do it without any type of coercion or regulation because that is what incentives do.
Sorry, this just really pisses me off.

you are right and we know it - others will catch up shortly!

It's surprising to me that the Fed has more positive (or at least neutral) takes on Bitcoin than the ECB. I don't know much about the ECB, but it makes me think there are different incentives at play for them vs the Fed.

They should give this pod a listen https://fountain.fm/episode/8964139801

basically a ban to minning center?, so everyone could buy a ASIC to mine at home?, is that bad?.

Maybe if the ECB started worrying less about the climate and more about inflation we wouldnt have all this inflation
