I've not played the video and already I've got this, and their other songs, in my head.
Brainworm stuff - but good brainworm stuff.

Takes the mere mention before your strolling down the street going "shoot that poison arrow through my heeeeeaaaaarrrrttt" 🤣

One of the defining tunes of the '80's, just sums it up right there. For me anyway. One of the top Radio 1 DJ's of the time had this track as the opening tune to their show. Could have been Gary Davies, Simon Mayo. It just lived on and on, as you heard it on a daily basis. I always get ABC and Spandau Ballet mixed up. I for a long time thought SB had done this.
reply
I also get those two mixed up as I thought Gold was ABC 🤣. Cracking track. I feel like it might've been Simon mayo, but I could be wrong. Speaking of radio DJs did you hear Steve Wright passed away ☹️ really sad, absolute voice of a generation.
reply
Yes, very sad to hear of Steve's passing. He was a part of generations of lives, he'll definitely be missed.

The voice is quite similar to David Bowie even the hair cut ...lol..But it s true it s from the same years (Absolute Beginners in that case)
I know the band by name but never heard about it or at least this one
reply
Definitely the sound of that era. Similar to Frankie goes to Hollywood and Duran Duran. The "New Romance" era of the late 80s definitely had a type.
reply
You re right :)
reply
Not a bad type though. But I can't say I dislike music from any era.
reply
Me neither, i born with this sound :)

This song popped up in the recommendations last week, and I love greeting the day with it. Amazing vocals!

A mix of club and soul... Very funky. Got me dancing away in my seat today.

I love skits made with this song especially those of fathers and daughters singing along with the lyrics https://youtu.be/aJOTlE1K90k?si=PZQ1YLGSUGRULZOF

Cool, catchy song. I was struggling today but you've just reminded of a song, thanks for the inspiration 😊
reply
It's quite cute the fathers & daughters thing. Adds a really nice dimension to video.
My favourite maroon 5 album is always going to be "songs about Jane" it burst onto the scene and was immediately a hit. Absolutely excellent album.

Jon Secada- Just Another Day

Fantastic track from Jon. I played this a lot back in '92, a top year. He was for a quite a while a backing singer for Gloria Estefan.
reply
That immediately identifiable 90s sound. I immediately heard this one, which is a similar sound.
It's weird how your brain jumps to something because now I hear them back to back... They're not even close 🤣🤣
reply
Bruce Hornsby classic choice, definite similarities that would trigger the music brain cells.

Maroon 5 Cover - Memories | One Voice Children's Choir

Hope this puts you all in a good mood
reply
Ok fine, if we're all jumping on the maroon 5 bandwagon today.
Here's my personal favourite, "she will be loved" from Songs about Jane.

A great song for the modern generation https://youtu.be/ApXoWvfEYVU?si=PniLz9LzG-VzIJVB

I really enjoy Post Malone's stuff. He keeps it simple and effective. Really great artist.

He has come far from just being that

Today it will be something a bit more Metal :P

I really need to give gojira more time, they kinda passed me by when I was younger and I never really went back. But I get recommended them quite frequently and just didn't get round to listening. So thanks for the reminder, this tracks really cool.

You can give a try with their last album, Fortitude

I'm doing that album now in the gym. And yeah... These guys are smart smart musicians. The guitar techniques being used are 🔥 super technical. Really really clever.

The drummer has received severals prizes for his play
reply
I don't know much about drumming but you can definitely hear some of the really cool technical things he's doing with different offbeats and such. Really cool sound.
reply
I shall make that a priority. Got a couple of solo gym sessions coming up as my wife's going away for a couple days for work, so there's an opportunity to get some solid listening time in.
