An awkward and surprising article from The Economist where they simultaneously insult bitcoin and conclude it’s hard to kill and real.

Amazing article, love it.
The writer is probably pro-bitcoin and thought "how can I get the people who religiously dislike Bitcoin to read an article about the benefits of Bitcoin?"
Genius.

Someone posted this last week and I made the same comment. I used to read the economist a long, long time ago. Good writing and often funny. It went off the rails about 20 years ago. I was shocked when I read this. They have been so negative towards bitcoin that I think it's a real MSM turning point. I guess that's a good thing, but maybe not. I hope it's not an acknowledgement that bitcoin is about to be coopted and hypothecated by the big boys.

Main Stream Media went off the rails when it became online ads supported. Most censorship comes come from the online ad agencies that pick what content they want to be associated with. This industry is gay and female dominated, the two censorship-happy anti-free speech groups. Print advertising was more primitive, with a more direct relationship between the publisher and the end advertiser .
This is why I am such fun of SN

Unfortunately the author is referring to crypto a lot with regards to resilience and that it can't go bankrupt or shutdown, which actually counts for Bitcoin.

This is the big realization that is starting to land. There can only be so many "deaths" of Bitcoin before people wake up to the fact it's not going anywhere.

This is an interesting article, I can liken most crypto to the cockroach analogy given in the introduction

I've stopped reading articles from these wishy washy news outlets. All of them have lost their credibility.

Yea? I bet more than half the world views Jamie Dimon as an unwelcome guest.

Wow, the economist published this? I guess that's all the proof anyone needs that Blackrock's entrance into the space was what the mainstream was waiting for to change their opinions.
Can't wait to see how big January's green candle is going to be.

nice one, maybe we should make a territory to collect these MSM articles to document this slow but inevitable U turn in their sentiment towards Bitcoin. I expect we will see more of this over 2024 and it will be interesting to see what spins they are going to come up with. Hoping to see a lot of the stuff Daniel Batten covers and the projects like the ones in Malawi mentioned in the recent What Bitcoin Did podcast with Jeff Booth and Alex Gladstein, that's the exciting stuff imo.

From the perspective of those new to Bitcoin, they want to discover BTC and want to own as much of it as possible.
From the perspective of whales, they want the financial market to be owned by them. They want to hold as much BTC as possible.
=> BTC price is pushed up to attract new people and attract new whales
