I enjoyed reading about the monastery before I got my first puppy in 1994. I bought two of their books: The Art Of Raising A Puppy and How To Be Your Dog's Best Friend. I found the story of the monastery fascinating. I screwed up in many ways with my first pup, but she managed to become a great dog anyway.
I think those books still have a lot of relevant advice

I do too, and I really enjoy reading them for pleasure. I got into the whole Bash thing later. It's funny how ideas and theories on training go in and out of fashion.
