So, my friend has installed a Phoenix LN Wallet and i have a Blink wallet. When i try to send him some sats, the result is more than disappointing. Blink tells me "unable to find a route" and that is it.
In Phoenix, the settings for channel management are on "Auto Management", so there is nothing much he can do. Can somebody tell me how that should work?
Thanks in advance!
Check if that Phoenix is online. Sometimes due to bad connection it could go offline. "unable to find route" is a very common error when one of the nodes is offline. I doubt that between Acinq and Blink there's are no routes available, they are 2 of the biggest nodes in the network.

thank you for your quick reply. i checked, phoenix says its connected to tardis.bauerj.eu but the problem remains the same

weird electrum server... try force close phoenix and restart to connect to a new electrum server.

thanks for the tip, now i am connected to electrum.acinq.co, with the same result. Also tried to send from Alby - also no route possible. I guess i just throw Phoenix in the dumpster

I just used today Phoenix, works perfectly for me. I think you are doing something wrong. Please explain in more details.
reply
i wish i could.
i just click receive in phoenix, scan the barcode with blink, enter the amount of 10 or 100 satoshi and when i try to send it, i get the message that it is unable to find a route.
But i have uninstalled Phoenix already, i do not have much patience with wallets which dont work immediately. Looking for a better non-custodial wallet now.

Check the estimated fees and max fee amount. If this the first transaction they can be even higher for channel opening. Due to the current on-chain fees, the total fee amount can be prohibitive.
reply
Thank you. The fee is being paid by the sender, means the blink wallet - it has more than enough satoshis in the wallet to pay any fees.

@BitByBit21 gave the correct answer.
The fee is being paid by the sender
Sender only pays the routing fee, not the mining fee needed to create (or increase the size of) the receiver's channel. Mining fees are paid by the receiver, deducted from the received amount.
To make the most out of self-custodial LN wallet, look at them like prepaid debit card. Load them infrequently with large amounts, then spend as you like.

/cc @ACINQ even though I'm not sure where the problem is

Try sending a small amount if sats to see if it works.
Sometimes when I get failed payments I reduce the size & it works
reply
not even 100 sats work
