Need Mining help and/or resources - Anyone have experience with large Networks?

In my school, admin has given the green light to show them my s9 miners I recently came across. Setting them up on the school network isn't straightforward - I cant find the IP. I'm using an app called Advanced IP scanner. I see all sorts of devices pop up - but not the s9.
  1. I've reset the antminer and followed instructions of how to get the IP to send. No dice.
  2. Firewalls/blocks - Is the network blocking the antminer from even registering an IP? If I connect the Ethernet into a computer first and route it through that - is this a workaround?
  3. Any other ideas?

Follow up - if I set the miners up at home and then run them off the internet... will they work a la plug n play? Something tells me the network has a connectivity gate-way of "signing in" devices.
