  1. Balaji srinivasan - Bet
The former chief technology officer at crypto exchange Coinbase and a former partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, Srinivasan in mid-March – shortly after the failures in short order of Silvergate Bank, Signature Bank and Silicon Valley Bank – said he expected a banking crisis to trigger a sizable devaluation of the U.S. dollar, hyperinflation and a surge in bitcoin to $1 million by mid-June. He put up $1 million to back his prediction.
"I just burned a million to tell you they're printing trillions,"

For me, there are two parts:
  1. different people I met throughout my nomad journey whom told me about this new technology.
  2. my personal experience of capital control, annoyance from banks, censorship, and inflation led me to dig into Bitcoin to solve these problems.
But stumbled across SN, and meeting @DarthCoin and so many humble stackers turned me into a toxic maxi.

AA is the GOAT.

Probably Antop for me as well way back in the day. We were lucky to have someone that articulate, humble, and fiery at the vanguard.

And also, truly looking for the truth, which is where a lot of the newer bitcoiners seem to have a disability. AA isn't dissuaded by their accusations of thoughtcrime, he just keeps dropping knowledge.
I hope one day we have a renaissance of those kinds of thinkers.

Once bitcoin was explained to me I immediately thought it would take over the world. The rest of my journey has been to harness the technology and overcoming the disease that is larping.

wish i could say the same.. took me more than 10 years.. when i first read about it wasnt even listed..

It was explained to me that bitcoin is capped at 21 million coins. There are an infinite amount of dollars that can be printed. Anybody on earth with a smart phone can buy less than a dollar of bitcoin. Bitcoin wants to be money for 8 billion people on earth. There are a group of psychopaths that only buy and refuse to sell.
I told myself, if half of this is true, than this stuff is going to blow TF up.
Found out about its peer to peer nature and the corrupting properties of fiat money, later down the rabbit hole. Found the FOSS movement, found praxeology and the libertarians, started uncovering the meaning of proof of work and individual sovereignty, started thinking about natural law and the absurdity of the state.......found out all my hero's are larps and scammers.......found out I'm a larp and probably a scammer as well.

I was browsing for more political news on youtube, and came across Max Keiser talking about bitcoin. I knew about bitcoin for a couple of years and didn't get it. After listening to him during the fork wars was really inspiring.

I heard about bitcoin for the first time in 2011. I didn't understand much, but the fact that it was a currency outside government control was enough to entice my curiosity. (I grew up in a country were the money lost 50% of its value overnight) Later, Andreas videos on YouTube helped me put many pieces of the puzzle together...

May not have been the actual orange pill, but this was one of the earliest quotes I'd saved for future reference:
I love seeing new services constantly starting to accept Bitcoin. Bitcoin is really becoming “the currency of the Internet.” I’m most concerned by possible government reactions to Bitcoin. They can’t destroy Bitcoin, but they could really slow things down by making exchange much more difficult. – Michael Marquardt

Nobody in particular. I learnt about Bitcoin from books and internet search. I was really tired of the centralized banking and payment systems, which are generally bad in every aspect. After reading about Bitcoin, my eyes got opened and I realized that Bitcoin is the only true money.
