I've half orange-pilled one family member in 4 years.
I've annoyed many, I've bored them all, they think I'm crazy.
But I had to make a last run at it so that future me could sleep at night.
This was my effort. If you think this approach could help you, please steal and edit as necessary;
Over the last while I’ve spoken much less about bitcoin to you all than I used to.
I didn’t want to sound like a crazed obsessive, and annoy people with it who weren’t that interested.
But after studying it and immersing myself in it for a number of years now, a key insight staring me in the face is that the most important thing in bitcoin is to do your absolute best to make sure the people closest to you, and most important to you, understand it, for the sake of maximising their future happiness and prosperity.
If I didn’t do my absolute best on that, no matter the outcome, then I would regret it.
So this is a final statement of sorts, so that I can sleep at night knowing I did my duty for loved ones.
In order to properly understand bitcoin, one needs to have the motivation and desire to want to educate themselves about it. You cannot solely listen to someone else attempt to explain it to you. So I know I cannot try another angle or aspect to talk about it, and bore you with that, it could never be successful.
I only desire to leave you with one fact, which is simply that Bitcoin is not designed to be an investment product in our current world. That is not what Bitcoin itself is.
I have found that when some people hear that, it can tug on their curiosity, and make them want to find out what it really is. Not its value in dollars, the technical way it works, or the potential to make money out of it, but what it actually is, and its context in human history.
Obviously if you ever wanted to find out more about bitcoin, you know who to talk to, and I would love nothing more than those conversations. But it is most effective to follow your own nose on it, if you ever felt curious.
After reading many books about it, my recommendations for a first read would be one of the following;
Quick and easy;
Bitcoin: Sovereignty Through Mathematics - Knut Svanholm
The Bullish Case for Bitcoin - Vijay Boyapati
Longer but better;
The Bitcoin Standard - Saifedean Ammous
So that’s all I’ve got. Apologies if this made you sigh and eye roll one more time, but I hope you understand that it was very important to me.
I look forward to sharing the hyperbitcoinized world with you.
