Took me a sec, but I got it working lol. No idea why I wasn't working for you... The imgur link didn't work for me, but the nostr link did. No idea.

reply

fuck this image system honestly

reply

I didn’t have problems before but today... Did something change or what 😮

reply

What problems are you having?

reply

Preview doesnt match the reality after posting. Preview worked, img not displayed in comments.

reply

Yeah that’s lame and frustrating.

I don’t think this was implemented in a robust way.

@ekzyis

reply

Yeah, we should show if the image will work during preview. And we probably need to relax some (default) image restrictions more.

Same here, preview shows my gif, but after posting it’s broken.

reply

Preview doesn't use the image proxy since it's only you that's viewing it. We should change that so you can see if it will work with the image proxy. Maybe we need to relax some default restrictions more.

How did you manage to post gifs? I see you did it twice :)

reply

just upload you gif to your postimg account and all good. They provide links for all kind of shares. Choose the one for full markdown format.

reply

Thank you fren! I uploaded my gif to postimg and pasted the full markdown format. Looks very good in preview but it’s broken when I post 🤷🏻‍♂️

reply

seems that is a problem with SN proxy image service.

You seem to be using an imgproxy from stacker news right? Is that available to everyone? 😀

the correct link from postimg is [ ![image.gif ] ( https ://i.postimg.cc/cLvhR9RZ/image.gif) ] (https ://postimg.cc/w1dDHk4b )

We proxy every image link now so you don't leak your IP address to arbitrary hosts. So no image link will work if the image doesn't meet some criteria of the proxy like max frames or max resolution for security reasons. We probably need to tweak those since there are some defaults.

reply

btw, for bypassing the image proxy you can wrap your link with "`":

https://i.postimg.cc/cLvhR9RZ/image.gif

I opened and started working on this ticket now

reply

That was my second attempt in the root of this comment tree. I tried to just post the direct link.

reply

LOL yes, seems that SN imgproxy is messing around and change the link details. @k00b can you check?
