Same here. I thought it was The Matrix, but your comment reminded me I had seen Avatar at IMAX. I did it for the 3D experience, otherwise I'd have downloaded the torrent.
"No Time To Die" in film theater and then also paid for streaming site to see streaming premiere in Latvian (so that I could be angry about translations not being perfect :) ). But usually I don't pay for films to streaming services, I pay to them for live sports broadcasts, films are just nice bonus. But I'm still using The Pirate Bay.
I’m sure that was a film worth seeing on the big screen. The live sport broadcast model is an interesting angle - thank you.
As for TPB… it’s significant competition I hear.
UHF, starring Weird Al. I saw it at a local theater chain in the middle of the week a few years ago. They even had a Weird Al impersonator give a little talk before starting the film. It was fun.
TF? I know you guys are busy, but some of these replies are amazing. Some of you really haven't paid to see a movie in more than a decade? 😆 I can't say I'm that dedicated.
Me, I saw Dune when it came out. Great adaptation of the book, IMO.
Bowfinger with Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy. The scene "Best damn crew we can afford" reminds me of my former company hiring junior developers in India.
Been nearly a decade since I saw a "new" movie in a theatre. We tend to just wait until it's available to rent or purchase from home. Way more enjoyable than theatre and cheaper. We did see "The Room" in a theatre about 5 years ago, but that's more about the experience. New releases are destined to be primarily home rentals like how they were released during COVID, with some boutique theatres surviving, but they will need to really rethink their prices and experience to survive in any meaningful fashion.
There is something to be said for the comfort of your own home when it comes to seeing film.
Boutique cinemas can provide a wonderful experience although it really depends on the film and the people who go. Do I really have to sit next to someone who takes their shoes off?
Home rental is an interesting route for film sales, although there weren’t that many actual blockbuster releases during COVID, it may not provide the financial return long term..
Do you any thoughts on SAT streaming for content? Or would it just be shoehorning BTC into a dying FIAT system?
Spider Man because the theater had a baby matinee so I could go with my 6 month old
Used to enjoy those screenings. Hard to complain about anyone else’s child crying…. Just grateful it’s not your own!
Avatar. Not 2, the original. On opening weekend 12 years ago.
Piracy has been good to me ever since.

Yes, it definitely was! Especially if you are 007 fan like me.
There is an interesting opinion that ‘The Rock’ is actually a James Bond film…

I've generally lost interest in going to theaters. It's so expensive and the product is hit-or-miss.
Would you go for a special screening or indie film?
I would have to be really excited about the movie.
Super Mario. Took my kids to the see the film at the local multiplex.
Kids are a good excuse and it’s kind of a treat I guess.
I just went to see The Blackening at a movie theater yesterday (multiplex)
Any good as a horror spoof?
$5m to make and taken $15.4m box office. It’s made back it’s budget in profit.
I enjoyed it. I’d watch it again, but not at a theater. Would be a good stream at home.
Can't remember...
That says it’s either been a long time or it was that forgettable!
Looooong time ago
It was either the new Avatar movie, or that movie “Babylon” about Hollywood back in the 1920’s.
Both are big production studios and I saw both in a multiplex theater. Not planning to see another movie for as long as I can help it.
Not sure I can stomach the new Avatar movie… didn’t enjoy the first one
Everything Everywhere AAO. Was a birthday treat. Blurry and hard to hear. Streamed it later at home so I could actually hear and see it.
I have to put the subtitles on sometimes!
jurassic park 3. best sleep I ever got in a theater.
Brilliant. I had similar experiences!
The Batman
Music seemed really loud on that one in the cinema.
Bullet train. It was worth it to see in theaters.
Good call. Good to hear the cinema enhanced the experience.

You don’t get that at home!
LOTR on Amazon prime

Suzume by Makoto Shinkai
Highly recommend his movies especially if you're tired of Hollywood films!
Always appreciate a recommendation!

Really interesting seeing the responses. I am half expecting someone to say the last film they saw was Spartacus on her real release…
And I am assuming your last visit was the more recent Dune rather than the 1980s one.

Star wars episode 3 like ten years ago
You are probably still traumatised…
Lord of the Rings, Return of The King
Good on the big screen. But extended editions were only available on DVD for us
this one was an extended edition screening for the 20th anniversary

The Green Book 2018
Cinemas like Fiat and public phones they will disappear.
That’s what I’m trying to establish….and figure out what comes next.
