If Elon does successfully purchase Twitter, what will actually change?
I suspect the main thing that will change is the policy regarding speech. They currently have very loose definitions of "hate," "misinformation," and "violence."

He's talked quite a bit about user verification and getting rid of bot-spammers. That would be great.
Unfortunately something lame regarding Dogecoin integration likely incoming.

Jack neglected Twitter for such a long time. It is really a pity how they failed vine when it was pretty much guaranteed tobe successful and TikTok eating their lunch. I hope Elon will create value from this.
One thing I could imagine is a Twitter Search engine. Twitter has all the important people and controversy threads and hashtags about subjects they could serve.
I don't see how it could tie in into the Tesla-Spacex-Boring-Solarcity ecosystem. That's a big question for me???

to be fair to jack, he owned 2% of the company. Elon is the richest guy in the world, buying 100% of the company.

Nothing. Because whatever is affecting twitter has affected reddit, youtube, facebook as well. There are some powerful and hard working people making sure the social networks put a lid on things.

I don't actually think Elon is going to try to purchase Twitter.
In what way does Elon's longterm off-world plan align with managing twitter?

Bret Taylor Chairman of the Board,
I invested in Twitter as I believe in its potential to be the platform for free speech around the globe, and I believe free speech is a societal imperative for a functioning democracy.
However, since making my investment I now realize the company will neither thrive nor serve this societal imperative in its current form. Twitter needs to be transformed as a private company.
As a result, I am offering to buy 100% of Twitter for $54.20 per share in cash, a 54% premium over the day before I began investing in Twitter and a 38% premium over the day before my investment was publicly announced. My offer is my best and final offer and if it is not accepted, I would need to reconsider my position as a shareholder.
Twitter has extraordinary potential. I will unlock it.

It'll be more volatile, and more innovative, instead of trying to protect people at the top from criticism and change.

it’s not really Elon’s MO to buy a dying product. he usually buys them while still nascent.
i think his offer is just meme, but who knows.

Everything that Elon does on Earth is to fund and build his Mars colony. Rockets, solar, tunnels, satellites. Now he's getting into social. How will future martians to communicate with each other? (And importantly, how to do politics..?)
All his ventures start out with him trying to other systems first. (He started SpaceX because it was easier than buying a Russian ICBM).
He would build his own social media company if he could -- however, the most valuable thing that Twitter has is the network. Everyone is on Twitter. That alone is worth the purchase. I would not be surprised if he plans to redesign the whole website starting from scratch.

Elon will only leave Twitter worse than what it is today. Almost sure that the deal will not happen.
