I'm sure this idea is probably out there already but I will go along with it. Tell me how I'm wrong because even though I am an engineer I'm not a developer, but here is what I envision:
  • Im tired of getting on Brave and being bombarded with ads and crap about shitcoins and bs services
  • I'd love a way for people to tip verified creators in sats, not bat
  • Is it possible for pushing the notion of a decentralized internet browsing experience by connecting nodes?
  • The browser can also be a source of analytical information about the network in real-time
  • It would obviously be focused on privacy
I wonder if there is some way for people to create webapps, as well as having internet content in a decentralized platform. What would be the benefits of this? I am obsessed with the lightning network innovations that are happening and to push for further adoption an internet browser experience could be the window to it all. It is how basically almost everyone connects to their nodes and so much development can be made with the use of things like extensions and what not.
I feel like the other way would be making some kind of browser extension that works like metamask does. Might be easier than starting from scratch. Brave is open source too. But yeah, it would be great if you can just tip any website by clicking a button on the browser, as long as the site has enabelled LN tipping. Enabelling BAT tipping for your website has ALOT of KYC involved, (as does even withdrawing BAT you recieve from viewing ads.) It would be great if there wasnt any KYC. And, obviously shitcoin-less.

I guess Alby is basically the browser extension you're talking about. Websites must add a header in the HTML doc or have a LN invoice/URL on the webpage though.

Brave's failures are all related to their double-bonehead move of shitcoin minting + incorporating as an official company.
Brave should be a pure open-source project using LN as its built-in currency. The project could fund itself just like all wallets do...by having defaults that direct transactions thru their servers and take a transaction fee.....90% of users won't ever touch the defaults....yet those who are concerned can modify to other servers.
Frankly Eich has turned out to be a huge let-down and frankly deserves to fail. He steadfastly refuses to adjust his strategy even though the landscape has changed dramatically in last 4 years. He is locked into the silicon-valley VC addiction to shitcoin minting + kyc. He really has turned out to be a braindead boomer

You might want to check out this short conversation (comment an replies) on SN:
What do people think about a Bitcoin Lightning tip bot for social media and blogs? #7878

Alby (browser extension) lets you tip creators through Twitter, Youtube, Medium.com, and more.
That's actually pretty cool: Just funded @k00bideh's http://stacker.news account with some sats from his Twitter profile with one click in @getAlby through my @lightning node running in my house...
Interoperability is key!!! Interoperability brings innovation!
How does one enable themselves to be the beneficiary of this sorcery?
The⚡️favicon in front of your Lightning address is necessary if you want to receive tips on Twitter, YouTube or BitcoinTV. The described meta tag must be inserted directly in the HTML code of the header section in your website.

Oh wow, had no idea soneone was already doing this, Awesome!

I love what they are doing. They won the award for best LN startup.

I'd love to visit a page and paid 100sats to remove every ads.

@k00b the sn readme states a desire to migrate to a decentralized platform. Do you have any thoughts on how you'd achieve this?
I'm bullish on Impervious even with the non-FOSS browser so that would be my choice, but interested to hear current/in-progress viable alternatives.
