Today I was reading one of @DarthCoin’s many insightful comments, where he said that the Brave browser is rubbish.

I immediately ducked my head and laughed quietly, ha ha ha... Because that’s the browser I’ve been using alongside the duck browser. šŸ¦† DuckDuckGo.

I’d like to know which browser StackerNews users are using.

Whether you’re on Android or PC, tell me which browser you’re using.

What are your reasons for using it – privacy, speed, lower data usage, etc.?

Share with us which browser you use and why.

Thanks for taking part.

Firefox and a mention to Keychat, you can run a sandbox browser with a choice of startpage, xngsear, brave or gasp! Google šŸ˜…

Thanks for the information; I didn’t know about Keychat. I’ll look into it.

I“ve been using Brave for quite some time now

reply

I've been using ā€œDuckDuckGoā€ for quite some time now; in fact, I'm writing this comment using that browser.

reply

I use the search engine exclusively but never realised they have a browser.

reply

I actually use multiple browsers, but I open SN in Brave.

I use Chrome a lot too, that's where I'm logged into my Google Account and use Gmail, GDrive etc.

It's kind of like having an Android phone and a GrapheneOS one, for different use cases.

I also use Firefox mobile for its ad-blocking and the button that converts the page to plain text, without any pop-ups about cookies and other nonsense, which also bypasses some paywalls.

reply

Firefox (pretty much the default on any Linux distribution)

reply

Firefox. But lately I've been getting annoyed with it's unwanted new features (AI widgets, vertical tabs, sidebar, tab groups) so I'm working on switching to LibreWolf. I heard good things about it here.

reply

I suppose you're talking about the browser on your PC, right?

Which one do you use on your phone?

reply

Yeah I was talking about my PC. On my phone, I have Firefox installed on there. But it doesn't get used much, because I dislike using smartphones and it's too huge for my pockets. It stays at home most of the time, and it's purpose is for calls, SMS, and a vlog camera. When I go out, I usually bring my Nokia flip phone. No sim card-- it's just for emergency calls, but it does have Firefox which I think I used one time and immediately vowed to never use it again because of how clunky it was. šŸ˜†

reply

OK, I see. Thanks for the explanation. In my case, it’s different – I use my phone’s browser a lot. And as I mentioned in the post, I use ā€˜Brave and DuckDuckGo’.

I use Chromium, Brave and the TOR browser.

reply

I’ve also been a Brave user for a while; I only use the Tor browser for Robosats on my PC. I forgot to tick the Tor option in the survey.

Love to hear what dartcoins genius alternative is

reply

none of browsers is perfect. NONE.
The only thing you can do is to find one or two that fits your regular use and one for specific tasks.
Try Helium for example. Simple not fancy. There are many chromium browsers out there. Find the ones that don't bullshit you with crappy fancy features.

reply

Brave, as I read it was the most secure

reply

Vanadium on GrapheneOS.

reply

Mozilla on lap top, fennec on phone

reply

Safari

Erm because I love using iPhone.
Don’t judge me lol

reply

Personally, I don’t like the iPhone; I never have, and since I fell down the Bitcoin rabbit hole, I like it even less

In the words of @DarthCoin, you“re a fan of IShit

I use Arc browser on Windows and iOS routinely but also have a few others installed just for testing my apps/games. My reasons for Arc are almost purely aesthetic - vertical tabs is the way!

Thank you for sharing your opinion
