On my way home today, I came across this scene:

A perfect visual representation of the market value of a liberal arts degree in the 21st century.

He’s waiting for a society that values wisdom to stop by and buy a book. He’ll be asleep for a very long time.

We built a world where you can buy a soul-searching memoir for the price of a coffee, yet we still can't afford to give the seller a bed.

Aaah, I should stop putting these in @realBitcoinDog's territory and have them in photo instead!!

You don’t see people like this very often anymore. In the last town I lived in, right on the seafront promenade, there was a lady sitting with a table and some books 📚

The first time I went over, I asked the price of a children’s book for my daughter, and I was surprised by her reply.

--"Take it, if you promise to return it when you’ve finished it".-- I was simply stunned.

Before I moved to another city, I was able to return the book and get two more, which I also returned once I’d finished them.

It was surprising and truly enriching to think about the lady’s work.

During our first chat, she told me:

"I do this because I love reading and I see that people don’t read much these days. I try to encourage good people to read. I’ve come across people who don’t return the book, but those are isolated cases; most are honest and always bring them back, and they even bring me books they no longer need, which helps me build up my stock".
