Do they? I know they say all the right things about it but they picked up his 5th year option rather than extending him. They want another look before deciding.
McCorkle leaves the 49ers and wins a Super Bowl with the best defense in the league like Sam Darnold did and CJ Stroud comes to the 49ers as back up to revive his career and then goes off and wins a Super Bowl with some other team. 49ers never win, just produce back up QBs that go on to win elsewhere and grayruby is sad forever. The End.
It’s a huge contract but he is young so at least they are going to get his prime years. He will be a free agent at 30.
Since the draft is coming next week we can talk about the fact that it probably doesn’t really make sense anymore to draft anything but QB, DE, OT or WR in round 1. I mean a few really great players will breakthrough every year but with the kind of money these positions are getting you want the 5th year option and to be paying premium to high value positions.
Who says defense can’t get paid?
Guys that try to kill the QB certainly can.
Yikes they still gotta pay CJ

But if they don’t they are cooked!
Two words: McCorkle Jones
bahahaha

Yikes!! black pills anyone? haha
Haha
Yikes. He's obviously good, but he's nowhere near the most valuable non-QB.

Yeah, I heard something interesting about how you should pretty much take any QB you think has even a 20% of being a legit starter.
I guess you can throw in CBs on that list too. But if you are drafting a RB, MLB, S, TE, G or C they better be all pro players.
That being said I would be happy if the 49ers took a G at 27. Prefer a T that can play G but will settle for the second best G in the draft.
