Launched by our friends at Middle Way - the same ones who run an alternative Boltz backend. Now they also run an alternative Coinos implementation with fewer bugs and better features. One of them is blinded paths!

going to this site gave me a cloudfare phishing warning

reply

Yes, Adam reported it as phishing at first by mistake. https://coinos.pro/ was since cleared, but https://coinos.pro/register still remains with the warning. The guys have made another appeal to Cloudflare.

Is this competing with or in association with coinos?
Are the fees really as low as coinos original?

reply

Same fees, yes. It was launched as an alternative when gifting sats via a link was broken for over a month at the original Coinos. Since Middle Way guys already manage bitcoin, liquid and lightning nodes, with swaps among them, seems like a logical addition. And since they do it privately under the radar, the new wallet can also be private and escape regulation.

What's their alternative Boltz backend? And what do you think of it?

reply

It has been around for over 2 years, you can swap with it on our swapmarket.github.io:

@asoltys2026 any thoughts or comments?

Why using almost the same name??? It'll create more confussion

reply

Because it IS the Coinos project that many bitcoiners already know and love. Just with added privacy features. The confusion is avoided by clear warnings:

be very cautious. smells like a scam. if you were going to make a new product you wouldn't steal a name

reply

It is not stealing when coinos README tells plainly that the code can be used by anyone, including to host a public instance. Since it is indeed the project being used, it would be strange to call it by any other name.
