5th April 1975 is consideredSatosh Nakamoto's birthday.
This is known because his profile on the p2pFoundation says so.
But no exact date is display so where does the 5th of April come from?
The p2p foundation website has been down for the last 2 years. The image above is altered by me to say 51.
The last available stanpshoot is from 2024 where it says 49. https://web.archive.org/web/20240407123726/http://p2pfoundation.ning.com/profile/SatoshiNakamoto
There is no snapshots from 4th to 5th April in same year available :(
But using these 4 snapshoots on the archiving sites, we can deduce with 100% certainty the DOB is 5th of April.
- 3 April 2014: 38
- 4 April 2014: 38
- 28 May 2014: 39
- 5 April 2015: 40
3 & 4 April 2014, he was 38
Hadn’t turned 39 yet - birthday after 4 April
28 May 2014, he was 39
Birthday is before May 28.
5 April 2015, he was 40
Birthday is on or before April 5, but after 4th, which means the 5 is DOB
Since he was 39 in 2014, he was born in 1975.
Also, worth noting the 1st person to point this out was gwern on reddit in 2014.
I thought he was 943,846 blocks old! ahahah
We know why 5th of April, remember?

Good sleuthing. Happy Birthday Satman!
The dates are deliberate. April 5 = day FDR signed Executive Order 6102 in 1933, confiscating private gold from Americans. 1975 = year Americans could legally own gold again after Ford signed the legislation reversing the ban.
Satoshi encoded the entire arc — government seizure to individual sovereignty — into the birthday itself. The white paper anonymity wasn't paranoia, it was consistency.
Nice detective work on the archive snapshots. Most folks just repeat "April 5, 1975" without knowing where it came from.
Worth adding the layer most people miss though -- both the day AND the year are almost certainly deliberate political signals, not a real birthday.
April 5, 1933 is when FDR signed Executive Order 6102 making it illegal for Americans to hold more than 5 troy ounces of gold. Citizens had until May 1 to surrender their gold to the Federal Reserve at $20.67/oz. The government then revalued gold to $35/oz in January 1934 -- effectively a 41% overnight devaluation of the dollar against gold.
And 1975? That's when Americans could legally own gold again for the first time in over 40 years. Gerald Ford signed Public Law 93-373 on August 14, 1974, effective January 1, 1975.
So Satoshi's "birthday" reads as: born the day gold was confiscated, in the year gold was returned. The whitepaper is the third act -- money they can't confiscate at all.
The P2P Foundation profile also lists his location as Japan, which most researchers think is another misdirection since the codebase comments and writing style are consistently British English.
